Friends are welcome if space permits. Any young naturalist 14 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure enough time for waiver signing and passport stamping. Remember to bring your passport—fill it out in advance at home to make it easier for the Leaders to stamp it.
All activities will take place rain or shine unless otherwise noted. Please consider the weather and the activity, and wear appropriate clothing and shoes, including sunhats and sunscreen. Bring snacks and water.
Other items that might be useful are: magnifying glass, binoculars, sketch book and pencil, camera and field guides.
Starting times are firm out of courtesy to the Leader of the day. We regret that we cannot wait for those who are late.
Please stay with the Leader and let him/her know if you are leaving early.

Sunday March 21st at 1.30pm “ The Stories Trees can Tell”
at the Heritage Forest, Qualicum Beach
Chris and Dave Hutchings are joining us to walk to explore this forest in the heart of Qualicum Beach. We will be learning about the trees, mosses shrubs that grow there.
Meeting at W-Crescent E over looking Qualicum Golf Course at the Heritage Forest Gate.
Sunday April 18th at 1.30 pm. "Earth Day" Celebration at Englishman River Park.
We are having our own booth this year and learning about the Douglas Fir ecosystems, bugs and animals in the park. More details to follow the end of March
Sunday April 25th 11am to 3pm “ River Never Sleeps Festival”
The fish Hatcheries from Bowser to south of Courtenay are hosting this event again at Rosewall Creek Hatchery located on Berray Road off Highway 19A, 1.8 km north of the Cook Creek exit. There will be touch tanks, releasing of salmon , face and fish painting, fish dissections, fly tying, casting demos and many other hands on activities.
Sunday May 30th at 1.30pm "Lowtide Lowdown"
Ocean Trail, Bowser.
Ian Birtwell, a biologist formerly with D.F.O. Is taking us to the beach at the end of Ocean Trail where there are 5 lagoons. We will be there at low tide and at this time of year the eagles are looking for food particularily the “ midshipmen”.
After the village of Bowser follow the two lane highway and turn right at Jamieson Road, Left at Bald Eagle Crescent and right at Ocean Trail where we will meet and go down to the beach together.

Elke Wind a biologist who is an expert on frogs and salamanders will be leading us on a nature walk.
